Do we need dance lessons?

What style of dance should we learn?

The style of dance you should learn depends on if you’re a beginner and what are your goals for your dancing? your instructor can guide you through the process by answering a few questions.

For beginners, we try to cover both Ballroom and Latin styles starting off with basic steps in a routine and add it to music

Do you cater for beginners?

Absolutely. In fact, we have many years of experience teaching beginners, and it gives us joy to inspire other to start their dancing journey. In private lessons you go at your own pace and skill level

Do I need a partner to have ballroom dance lessons?

No, your dance teacher will partner you through the steps & skills and have lots of fun doing it

Do I need special dance shoes?

Ballroom shoes are not required but are recommended for those who dance frequently. Next to dance shoes, casual dress shoes are your next best options.

I’ve been told I have two left feet and no rhythm. Can I still learn to dance?

Yes! Anyone can learn to dance. Our instructors work with beginners all the time. our experience tells us that anyone who has a desire to learn, CAN. If you can move, you can dance

How long will it take me to learn to dance?

Practise practise practise
The more you practice the better you will become! That said, depending on your goals it usually takes a few months to feel truly comfortable and confident on the dance floor.

Is ballroom dancing really exercise?

Absolutely, dancing improved your stamina, posture, coordination, flexibility and strength. You’ll be surprised how much it improves your overall wellbeing and having the time of your life doing it

Where do you teach private lessons?

Coopers Plains Dance studio, we have a common dance floor for all Teachers, and we have a private room for wedding dance lessons only

Do you offer make-up and hair course?

Yes, our lovely dance instructor Tam runs courses, to book in let us know

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a private lesson?

If you need to reschedule your lesson, we ask that you give our instructor 24-hour notice to avoid being charged for the lesson. We understand life happens and things come up, but 24-hour notice can help us re- book that times slot or give the room to another teacher.

How long will it take me to become a good dancer?

Dancing is a very individual and personal skill with people's ability varying greatly, so it is difficult to put a time estimate on learning. However, most people can expect to move through the basic stages in a few weeks. After that it depends on how often you attend your lessons and practice in between. Everybody is different and everybody learns differently.

I’m a beginner. How do I get started?

Contact us direct to book your first lesson, we will ask a series of question so we can set you up with the perfect teacher.

If you want a lesson with a particular instructor, you can request a lesson by call or email that instructor directly.

What is a ‘lead’ or a ‘follow’?

In partner dancing, there is always someone who leads and someone who follows. Traditionally, the man is the lead and the lady is the follow, but anyone can learn both parts.

This helps with leading a full routine and navigating around a busy dance floor
